A lecture on Water-Borne Diseases and Safe Handling of Drinking Water was conducted at St. John International School to create awareness among students about the importance of clean water and hygiene practices. The session was delivered by Mrs. Vidyalakshmi Poojari, who explained the topic in an engaging and informative manner.
The lecture highlighted common water-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhoea, explaining their causes, symptoms, and preventive measures. Students were educated on the importance of using safe and clean drinking water. The speaker demonstrated simple methods of water purification, including boiling, filtration, and proper storage techniques.
Emphasis was laid on maintaining personal hygiene, especially regular handwashing before meals and after using the toilet, along with practicing good oral hygiene. The session was interactive, with students actively participating and asking questions. Real-life examples were shared to help students understand the impact of contaminated water on health.
