Learning Outcome: By the end of the vocational training, students were able to:

  • Understand the purpose and applications of the Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and Compression Testing Machine (CTM).
  • Recognize the importance of testing construction materials for strength and quality.
  • Identify the basic properties of soil and the need for soil testing before construction.
  • Gain awareness of simple water quality analysis methods and their importance.
  • Develop an interest in civil engineering and vocational skills through hands-on learning.
  • Enhance their observation, analytical thinking, and practical understanding of engineering concepts.

 Report of the Activity

As part of the school’s vocational education program, the students of Grade VII A/B  participated in a vocational training session by Baswaraj sir and Swapnil sir.The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to civil engineering laboratories and introduce them to basic testing procedures used in the field.

The training included the following activities:

1. Material Testing Laboratory (UTM and CTM)

Students visited the Material Testing Laboratory, where they learned about the Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and the Compression Testing Machine (CTM). The resource persons demonstrated how these machines are used to determine the strength and durability of construction materials such as steel and concrete. Students observed the testing procedures and understood the importance of quality control in construction projects.

2. Soil and Water Analysis

Students were introduced to basic soil and water analysis techniques. They learned about different soil properties, methods of testing soil samples, and the significance

soil testing before construction. They also observed water quality analysis and understood the importance of safe and clean water for construction and daily use.

The vocational training was highly informative and exciting. It provided students with valuable practical knowledge and helped them appreciate the role of civil engineering in ensuring safe and sustainable infrastructure.
