Vocational Training Visit to Idea Lab

- Students understood the basic concepts, tools, and safety practices involved in carpentry, sheet metal work, and welding.
- Students developed practical awareness of vocational skills through live demonstrations and hands-on exposure.
Report:
As a part of the Vocational Training Programme, the students of Grade VIII (Divisions A & B) visited the Idea Lab at St. John College of Engineering and Management, Palghar, on 15 July 2026 from 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to vocational skills through demonstrations and interactive learning sessions.
The session on Sheet Metal and Welding was conducted by Mr. Sandip Sankhe, who introduced students to the properties of sheet metal, commonly used fabrication tools, safety measures, and basic cutting, bending, and welding techniques through live demonstrations. The Carpentry session was conducted by Mr. Sachin Kandi, who explained different types of wood, measuring and marking methods, carpentry tools, and the importance of accuracy and safety while working with wood. Students actively observed the demonstrations and gained valuable insights into the process of creating simple wooden structures.
The vocational training visit successfully enhanced students’ practical knowledge, creativity, teamwork, and awareness of workplace safety. It also inspired them to appreciate skilled trades and explore technical and vocational career opportunities, making the learning experience both informative and engaging.
