The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with immense pride and enthusiasm at St. John International School, Palghar, on 15th August 2025. The event brought together students, teachers, parents, and esteemed dignitaries to honor the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and reflect on the nation’s journey of unity and progress.

The program began with a warm welcome by the anchors, Furqan and Dnyaneshwari, who set a patriotic tone with a heartfelt Hindi poem and an inspiring introduction. They extended a special welcome to the Chief Guest, Sr. Linda Rodrigues, along with other dignitaries including the Chairman of Aldel education trust, Mr. Albert W D’Souza, Dr. Mrs. Savita Tauro (Campus Academic Director), Mr. Satheesh Shetty (General Manager), Mr. Sudhir Babu (HR Manager), and the principals of various institutions under the St. John Campus.

The ceremony commenced with a slow march past, a disciplined and respectful procession, followed by the flag hoisting by Sr. Linda Rodrigues. The sight of the Tiranga fluttering high filled everyone with pride, and the gathering sang the National anthem with deep reverence. A melodious Flag Song (“Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara”) further enhanced the patriotic atmosphere.

The cultural segment showcased the talents of students through various performances. The Aldel High School dance team presented a graceful performance, while students from St. John Junior College mesmerized the audience with a soulful patriotic song. A student from Grade IX, Sanchi Dhangada, delivered an insightful speech on patriotism, emphasizing the importance of freedom and responsibility. The St. John International School dance team then energized the crowd with a vibrant performance, symbolizing the spirit of a new India.

The highlight of the event was the speech by Chief Guest Sr. Linda Rodrigues, an accomplished educator with over 24 years of experience. She spoke about the values of discipline, education, and nation-building, inspiring students to contribute meaningfully to society. As a token of appreciation, Principal Sr. Veena Monteiro presented her with a sapling, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Veer Mali (Grade V), who expressed gratitude to all participants, organizers, and guests for making the event a grand success. The celebration reinforced the values of freedom, unity, and patriotism, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and responsibility towards the nation.
