On the 21st of April, students from Grade XII Commerce and XII Science participated in a beach cleaning drive at Shirgaon Beach. The event was organized as part of the school’s initiative to promote environmental awareness and foster a sense of responsibility towards preserving natural resources. The beach cleaning drive aimed at addressing the growing issue of plastic waste and other environmental hazards affecting marine life and the cleanliness of the coastline.
Prior to the event, students were briefed about the importance of beach cleanliness and the significance of their involvement. Necessary safety measures were also discussed, including the proper handling of trash, using gloves, and ensuring the safety of all participants. Students were provided with cleaning materials like gloves, trash bags, and face masks.
Event Details
The beach cleaning drive commenced at 8:00 AM with an enthusiastic group of students gathering at Shirgaon Beach. After a quick briefing by the supervising faculty members, the students started picking up trash across various sections of the beach. The trash included plastic bottles, wrappers, food packaging, glass bottles, and even broken plastic pieces.
By the time the event concluded at 10:00 AM, a lot of waste had been collected and properly disposed of. In addition to cleaning the beach, the students also engaged in a discussion about sustainable practices, such as reducing the use of plastic and promoting recycling in daily life.
