           “To watch us dance is to hear our hearts express and see the feet create magic.”

An Inter School Dance Competition DANCE-PIRATION’ was organised on Saturday ,21st November,2022 in the SJCEM auditorium. The competition started around 10.00 am in the morning and the members of the management Secretary Mrs. Elvina D’Souza, Treasurer Mrs. Elaine D’Souza Buthello , Members of the Trust Mr. Aldridge D’Souza ,General Manager Mr. Satheesh Shetty along with the School Principal Sr. Veena Monteiro graced the event with their presence . The event was judged by noted professional dance choreographers from Mumbai, Mr. Saiba Sayed and Ms. Uvika Aravind. The event started with the lighting of the lamp along with the Saraswati vandana and offering flowers to the idol of Natraja followed by the felicitation of the judges. They were presented with a token of appreciation by the members of the management. The audience was addressed by the School Principal, Sr. Veena Monteiro and Member of the trust, Mr. Aldridge D’Souza who apprised the participants of the importance of the event.

The competition was held in two group categories. Category 1- Grade V-VII (Classical Dance) and Category 2 – Grade IX- XII (Modern Fusion Dance)

The following Schools participated in the event:

1. Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Boisar

2. U.S Ostwal English Academy, Boisar

3. U.S Ostwal International School, Boisar

4. CTES School, Boisar

5. St. John International School, Palghar

True to the theme, the vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and this was a reflection of their passion and hard work. The choreography, rhythm, synchronisation and presentation of all the students were appreciated by everyone. The participants were appreciated by giving them participation certificates for their efforts and hard work by the School Principal, Sr. Veena Monteiro. The results for the event were announced by the school supervisor Mrs. Laveena Fernandes. The first position in the first category of classical dance form (Grade V to VIII) was secured by St. John International School, Palghar wherein the second position was won by the students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Boisar. The first position in the second category of modern Fusion dance (Grade IX to XII) was bagged by St. John International School, Palghar who mesmerised everyone with their performance on the Impact of Covid-19 through an amalgamation of wonderful graphics, contemporary dance forms and an inspirational storyline.  The second position was won by the students of St. John Junior College, Palghar. The winners were given trophies and certificates for their mesmerising performances by the judges and members of the Management. The judges congratulated the winners and appreciated the performance of all the students and encouraged them to participate more in such competitions to enhance their talents. They also appreciated the zealous efforts of all the performers and also congratulated the school on making the event a success. The event ended with a Vote of thanks and serving of refreshments to the participants involved.
