Learning outcome of the Activity:
Students will be able to

  • Analyze topics deeply, constructing logical, evidence-based arguments while identifying flaws in opposing viewpoints
  • Improve public speaking, articulation, and poise under pressure.
  • Develop the ability to disagree respectfully, listen actively, and understand opposing viewpoints.

To commemorate the English Language day celebrated Internationally paying tribute to the bard of English, William Shakespeare. The purpose of the activity was to enlighten students about the critical role playwrights and Poets play in maintaining the mental wellbeing and health of Humans.

Through their Debating Skills the students and spectators showed classic restraint and command of the language. The competition showcased the impressive talents of our students as they engaged in thought-provoking debates on pertinent topics. The competition aimed to foster critical thinking, public speaking skills, and teamwork among our students. Each Team  was represented by two – three members, one in favour of the motion, one against it. The topics were “Relevance of English Language as a Global Communication Tool” and “Will AI Replace Human Jobs?” Students participated actively and presented their views both for and against the topics with confidence and clarity.

The event was judged by Sr. Delcina louis from Aldel College Pharmacy and Research and Mrs. Purba Gilani from St. John Junior College who evaluated participants based on content, fluency, pronunciation, confidence, and overall presentation. The audience, including students and teachers, thoroughly enjoyed the lively exchange of ideas and applauded the participants’ efforts.

The competition not only celebrated World English Day but also encouraged students to express their opinions effectively and respectfully.

Overall, the debate competition was a great success and proved to be both educational and entertaining.
