Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is an annual festival observed on 14 thApril to commemorate the memory of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Indian polymath and civil rights activist.It marks the birthday of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s who was born on 14 thApril 1891.Since 2015 it has been observed as an official public holiday throughout India. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated not just in India but all around the world.
On 16th April 2022 ,Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated in St. John International School. A special assembly was organised on this occasion by lightning of the lamp by the Principal Sr. Veena Monteiro and Coordinators Mrs. Laveena Fernandes, Mrs.Vidhyalakshmi Poojari and Mrs. Wilma Attupankil. Student from Grade VII A Aarchi Sankhe delivered an informative speech on the life history of Dr Ambedkar. Important incidents from his life were narrated to students for inculcating good values among them. The achievements and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar were highlighted and emphasis was laid on his writing a vast and the lengthiest Constitution of the world. His contributions to the uplift of lower caste people were also highlighted.
