Today, we hear a lot about child abuse and molestation. It’s high time we start teaching young children about ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’, as it is essential that we empower our children with the right knowledge before it’s too late. Hence,St John International School took the initiative to educate young minds about the same on 4th April 2025 for grade VI to VIII. The session was conducted by Mrs. Hetal Shah.
It is very well said that, ”Prepare and prevent, don’t repair and repent.” Taking this forward, a session on topic ‘ My body belongs to Me; Learning to protect yourself’ was taken. The session started with a video where in the students were educated regarding safe and unsafe touch through appropriate illustrations, How to identify and respond when someone makes you uncomfortable, Some rules regarding what is correct and what’s incorrect in order to stay safe. Then through power point presentation students’ knowledge was built on how and where to seek help and protection. The children were told that everyone has a right to be safe, to be heard, and to get justice, whether they are a boy or a girl. The students were asked to do an activity of creating ‘My Safe circle’ where they had to write name and phone number of person whom they trust. Students were encouraged to discuss the learning from the session with their parents. It was an informative session which created awareness among the students.
