Hutatma Diwas

St. John International school believes in instilling values into the young minds. August 14 is observed as Martyrs day – Hutatma Diwas in Palghar region. The People of Palghar observed Hutatma Din (Martyrs’ Day) to pay tribute to five freedom fighters Govind Thakur, Kashinath Pagdare, Ramprasad Tiwari, Sukur More and Ramchandra Churi, all aged between 17 to 20 years, who were shot by the British police, on August 14, 1942. A bloodstained flag is carried in the morcha and is kept in the central hall of the Palghar.
People in large numbers gather to pay gratitude to the valour and courage of the martyred freedom fighters of Palghar every year on Aug 14 at 12.39 pm when the first freedom fighter was shot dead.
St. John International school took the students of Grade IX to Hutatma chowk to give tribute to the brave Martyrs. Two minutes of silence was kept by the students, they also chanted the slogan “ Vande Mataram” to pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.
