Report on the Activity:
On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse (World Drug Day), observed annually on 26th June, St. John International School, Palghar organized an awareness program for students of Grades IX to X. The objective of the program was to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and inspire them to lead healthy, responsible, and drug-free lives.
The program began with an introduction to the significance of World Drug Day, highlighting the United Nations’ initiative to promote global action against drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking. Students were informed about the physical, mental, social, and academic consequences of substance abuse and the importance of prevention through awareness, strong family support, healthy friendships, and positive lifestyle choices.
A thought-provoking mono act was presented by students of grade X, portraying the emotional and social impact of drug addiction on an individual. The powerful performance effectively conveyed the message that drug abuse destroys lives, while timely guidance, determination, and support can help individuals overcome addiction. The audience appreciated the meaningful presentation and its inspiring message.
The program concluded with a pledge by the students to stay away from drugs, make informed choices, and spread awareness among their peers and community. The activity successfully reinforced the message that “Prevention is Better than Cure” and motivated students to contribute towards building a healthier, safer, and drug-free society.
