Just A Minute Competition

Date English is the most popular and widely spoken language. So it is a “World Language”. Each year 23rd April is celebrated as ‘English Language Day’ as it is the day of both the birth and death of William Shakespeare. The English language is one of the most popular languages used across the world.
On account of ‘English Language Day’ a competition of ‘Just A Minute’ was organised for the students of Grade VI to VII. JAM is an impromptu speech where the speaker is supposed to express the idea (s) on the given topic on the spot, within the duration of a minute. Due to such a competition, the students get opportunity to to showcase their art of public speaking. Class-wise interested participants were asked to give their names to their English teacher by 19th April. The Judgement criteria was Fluency, Analysis of ideas, the audience’s interest and Confidence.
The judges for the competition were Ms. Justina Khandhya and Ms. Bethshina Nunes English Teachers from Aldel High School.
The students were asked to pick a chit and think about the topic for a minute. Then they were asked to talk about the topic for one minute. The participants in the competition motivated the non participants with their awesome performance.
With this the objective of the competition was achieved.
