St. John International School, Palghar, proudly celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on October 1st, a day dedicated to honouring Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, known for his principles of truth and non-violence. This occasion is recognized as the International Day of Non-Violence by the United Nations General Assembly.
The celebration commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising respect and reverence for Gandhi’s birthday. Following this, students participated in a prayer session, singing “Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram,” a song that holds significant cultural importance.
Students presented various segments that highlighted Gandhiji’s life, including his childhood, education, and the pivotal role he played in India’s struggle for independence. A highlight of the program was a dramatisation of the Dandi March, showcasing Gandhi’s commitment to non-violent protest.
