Learning outcome of the Activity:
On the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Diwas, students will understand the importance of the Marathi language, gain information about Kusumagraj, learn to speak Marathi with confidence, improve their vocabulary and writing skills, and develop pride in their mother tongue in Marathi.
Report of the activity:
Marathi Bhasha Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence on 27th February 2026 at St. John International School. This day holds special significance as it marks the birth anniversary of the renowned poet, writer, and Dnyanpeeth awardee, late V.V. Shirwadkar, also known by his pen name Kusumagraj. His contributions to Marathi literature have left an indelible mark, making this day an ideal occasion to celebrate the language and its cultural heritage.
The celebration began with a special assembly held at the school quadrangle. The assembly focused on the importance of the Marathi language given by Shivtej Govind Chalak (Grade 3rd A), its history, and its contribution to literature and culture. To further highlight the significance of Marathi literature, a group of Grade IV & V students performed beautiful Marathi songs, showcasing the richness of the language. Overall, Marathi Bhasha Diwas at St. John International School was a resounding success, leaving the students with a deeper understanding and respect for the Marathi language and its heritage. The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with their cultural roots and gain insight into the treasures of Marathi literature.
