Observation of Mental Health Awareness Week
It’s Okay to be Not Okay…..Just don’t give up!!!
St. John International School believes that a healthy body vests in a Healthy Mind. As directives from CBSE and to take forward the ‘MANODARPAN’ initiative of covering a wide range of activities to provide psycho-social support to students, teachers and families for Mental Health and Emotional Well-being during COVID-19 outbreak and beyond was conducted in school.
During these unprecedented circumstances following the pandemic including closure of schools, new system of online classes, restrictions of outdoor activities, etc. has led to stress and anxiety among many students which calls for empathetic handling through psycho-social support. In this context, a Mental Health Week was observed from 4th to 10th October, 2020 on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
The following activities were conducted-
1. Teachers were oriented about Mental Well-being of students and teachers around them. Hence the session was conducted by the School Counsellor for the implementation of Mental Health Awareness Week.
2. Teachers narrated stories to their students highlighting different components of mental well-being.
3. Linkages with the students’ daily life was established to help create awareness.
4. Students were encouraged to make slogans and posters to bring awareness.
5. Parents were also included to take it into the next level of implementation.
