Report on the activity-
On June 11, St. John International School celebrated National Reading Day with great enthusiasm. The students of Grade V actively participated in an engaging activity titled “Read, Imagine, Summarize.”
In this enriching session, students read a thoughtfully selected short story with keen interest and close attention. As they read, they were encouraged to use their imagination to vividly visualize the characters, settings, and events, bringing the story to life in their minds.
Following the reading activity, students eagerly shared their interpretations and engaged in meaningful discussions with their classmates. This exchange of ideas helped them gain different perspectives and deepened their understanding of the story.
To conclude the activity, each student wrote a concise summary in their own words, carefully highlighting the key events and the moral lesson of the story. This exercise strengthened their ability to identify main ideas and express them clearly and effectively.
Overall, the activity proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing students’ reading comprehension, creativity, and writing skills. The session was both enjoyable and insightful, successfully fostering a love for reading and making the celebration of National Reading Day a memorable and meaningful experience for all.
