As a part of the SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work Education and Action) initiative, the students of Class XII Science and Commerce visited the historical Shirgaon Fort on 21st April 2025. The objective of the visit was to explore the rich cultural heritage of the region and understand the importance of preserving historical monuments.
Shirgaon Fort, a symbol of Maratha valor and history, served as an excellent learning site where students experienced firsthand the architectural brilliance and strategic importance of forts during ancient times. Students were taken on a heritage walk that included a detailed explanation of the fort’s layout, construction, and its role in regional defense.
As part of the SEWA activity, the students participated in a cleanliness drive around the fort premises, helping remove litter and contributing to the upkeep of the site. This hands-on involvement helped students recognize the importance of civic responsibility and environmental awareness in heritage conservation.
Conclusion
The visit to Shirgaon Fort was an enriching experience. It provided students a deeper appreciation for India’s cultural past and the values of heritage preservation. Such experiential learning helped bridge the gap between theory and practice and left a lasting impact on the minds of the students.
