Report on the Activity:
On 30th July, 2024 Students of Grade VI A and B visited the Printania Printing Press which is located in our campus accompanied by their Class Teachers. The visit began by a briefing given by Mr. Shubham Tiwari about the basic process involved in making print come to paper which was: first, Pre-press treatment i.e., CTP (Computer-to-plate)process, followed by printing and then finishing. We were taken to the various areas of work divided meticulously and located on various floors. The graphics created on the computer after designing were put on large CTP plates. The softwares used for designing were usually Corel Draw, PDF, Adobe Photoshop, Canva etc. depending upon the nature of printing to be accomplished. There were many plates designed according to the colour required. The colours basically include CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (Black). We were taken to each of this places where the gigantic machines with their efficient work was carried out. We were also shown how the paper is processed into print being carried out right in front of our eyes. Sir guided us to all the other rooms where other work of five colour printing was carried on. Not only the sophistication of machinery, in the printing process there was the involvement of a number of labourers who did very crucial work like compiling the sheets before cutting, binding and punching the sheets. We could see these people in action as some were busy sealing finished envelopes or packing small cards into plastic cases. The shaping and cutting of the final piece of printed pages was done by a professional using a highly sophisticated machine that had object sensitive ability that made working on it safe and really easy. We were shown the new methods of designing on paper of all qualities from gloss to a matt finish. The machine binding was also shown. The hospitality extended was really appreciated and we are grateful to Our School Principal for the informative visit where we witnessed the magic of print with our own eyes.
