World Environment Day
World Environment Day has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime. To encourage awareness and action in our students for the protection of the environment for the generations to come, St. John International school celebrated World Environment Day on 7th June 2023 by conducting activities to commemorate the day.
Activity 1, Grade 6- 8 Activity: Learn to compost
Students read more at Gardening Know How: Composting Ideas for Children: How to Compost and a video was shown in class.
Students prepared charts or slogans or wrote an essay to spread awareness on environmental issues in school on 7th June for World Environment day.
Activity 2, Grade 9-12: Donated and planted saplings in a group activity
Students formed groups of 5-10 students to bring saplings of the following and planted Plantain tree, Gulmohar Tree, Ashoka Tree, Neem Tree and Fruit bearing trees like the Mango tree along with their school Principal Veena Monteiro.
