The school organized The International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2019, which is celebrated all over the world. This idea was proposed by our honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. He said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well-being.”

International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and teachers at St John International school with great enthusiasm. Students of grade I and X demonstrated various yoga asanas. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asana, importance of these were explained simultaneously. Essay writing and Slogan making competition based on Yoga was held in the School. The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of slogans and speech by our Principal. She encouraged students to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration.

The program ended with pledge taken by all the students teachers as well as principal to perform Yoga in day to day life.

The International Yoga Day Logo was displayed to the students. The Physical Education Teachers explained to the students that the brown leaves symbolize the Earth element, the green leaves symbolize the Nature, blue symbolizes the Water element, brightness symbolizes the Fire element and the Sun symbolize the source of energy and inspiration. The logo reflects harmony and peace for humanity, which is the essence of Yoga. The students performed Pranayama (breath control) and other asanas were also taught to them. Regular practice of yoga will surely help our students achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well.
